Take the Pledge

2004 Christian Coalition Voter Guide - Presidential Election

Sponsored by: MillionVotes.com

Whereas Scripture charges Christians to “Render therefore to Caesar the things that are Caesar’s, and to God the things that are God’s” (Matthew 22:21 NKJV);

Whereas at least 33 million Christians stayed home during America’s last presidential election;

Whereas casting a vote is a hard-won liberty, bought by the sacrifice of America’s Founding Fathers;

Whereas I understand that future generations will inherit the effects of today’s moral and ethical decisions;

Whereas I love God, and I love my neighbor, and I wish to pass on a legacy of liberty and freedom to the children of America;

I pledge to vote according to the dictates of my conscience, as informed by Holy Scripture, this November 2.

“Providence has given to our people the choice of their rulers, and it is the duty, as well as the privilege and interest of our Christian nation, to select and prefer Christians for our rulers.” — John Jay, first U.S. Supreme Court Chief Justice

“Moreover you shall select from all the people able men, such as fear God, men of truth, hating covetousness; and place such over them to be rulers of thousands, rulers of hundreds, rulers of fifties, and rulers of tens” (Exodus 18:21).

“The time has come that Christians must vote for honest men and take consistent ground in politics. ... If he will give his vote only for honest men, the country will be obliged to have upright rulers… It seems sometimes as if the foundations of the nation are becoming rotten, and Christians seem to act as if they think God does not see what they do in politics. But I tell you He does see it, and He will bless or curse this nation according to the course Christians take in politics.”— Charles Finney, leading minister in America's Second Great Awakening

“If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land” (2 Chronicles 7:14).

A Great American

CURT SCHILLING, YOU AND THE BOSTON RED SOX HAVE JUST WON THE WORLD SERIES, THE FIRST FOR BOSTON SINCE 1918!!! WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO NOW??

“[M]ake sure you tell everybody to vote, and vote Bush next week."

Just a bit more in depth than “Yah, we got punked”, Curt Schilling wrote an open letter to America shortly after the 9/11 attacks. In all fairness to Kelso, Curt didn’t have the pressure of speaking before a Vice Presidential nominee, just the weight of the tragedy that had just occurred and the love of his country on his heart.

Curt Schilling's letter to America

To the fans of Major League Baseball, and the victims and families of Tuesday's terrorist attacks in New York and Washington D.C.,

We will proudly wear the great flag of this country on our uniforms, and it's something I hope baseball adopts forever.

The flags in this country fly at half-staff to honor those that have fallen, but the flags are the only thing going halfway in this country and it's my belief that that will not change. I believe our President when he says retribution will be swift and total; as an American it's all I can go on, but based on what I have seen done these past few days by other Americans it's more than enough.

To those out there that serve in the military, and to those with children serving in the military, I offer my sincerest thanks, and our prayers are with you and yours in the days and weeks to come. We know you'll do us proud.

In closing let me say God Bless America and God Bless Americans everywhere.

Thank you,
Curt Schilling

I AM VOTING FOR KERRY

kutcher01.jpg

That’s right; this man above has made me change my mind about voting for George Bush. His unbelievably in depth analysis and profound statement, “Yah, we got punked [by Bush]” has made me see the error of my ways. I had never thought about it like that and he has finally put this election into perspective for me.

Thank you Ashton! Thank you so very much!

punked.jpg

Thank you for being a spokesman for Senator Kerry and not President Bush. Thank you for coming out with Senator Edwards and speaking directly for their campaign!

They can’t be serious can they? My wife told me about this story last night and I couldn’t stop laughing. Can you imagine if Vice President Cheney came out on stage with the likes of Britney Spears or Jessica Simpson expressing their support for President Bush? They do support our President, but the campaign is not using them to get their message out. How desperate can one be to turn to Kelso for campaign support?

Now I don’t fault Ashton Kutcher for wanting to get involved in the political process. I think more people need to take a more active role in our political process. It is unfortunate that younger people by in large are apathetic to these topics and it is sad when people who have the opportunity to vote do not take it.

But with that opportunity comes a great responsibility to be an informed voter. This means you don’t vote for a particular political candidate because an MTV personality says so or even a politically biased “news” network. You need to take that responsibility to seek the truth, the real unquestionable truth. Not just someone’s version of it.

Of course that’s just my opinion. I could be wrong.

Who's Pro who?

Terrorists hope to defeat Bush through Iraq violence

approved by terrorists

Terrorists Pro-Kerry
Leaders and supporters of the anti-U.S. insurgency say their attacks in recent weeks have a clear objective: The greater the violence, the greater the chances that President Bush will be defeated on Tuesday and the Americans will go home.
"If the U.S. Army suffered numerous humiliating losses, [Democratic presidential nominee Sen. John] Kerry would emerge as the superman of the American people," said Mohammad Amin Bashar, a leader of the Muslim Scholars Association, a hard-line clerical group that vocally supports the resistance.

"We've got to work to change the election, and we've done so. With our strikes, we've dragged Bush into the mud."

Quite frankly, terrorists shouldn’t be telling Americans how to vote and the fact that they want Kerry to win says a lot about why President Bush should win. Americans will decide who our next president is, not the terrorists. This country will not fold as easily as Spain did.

Terrorists Pro-Bush?
Mowafaq Al-Tai, a London-educated architect and intellectual, said… The most pro-Bush, he said, are the foreign extremists. "They prefer Bush, because he's a provocative figure, and the more they can push people to the extreme, the better for their case."

The better their case to strengthen the resolve of the American people to defeat terrorists around the world and win the War on Terror? I’m afraid that is an extreme that they will come up with the short end of the stick.

Terrorists Pro-Anyone?
"The nation of infidels is one, and Bush and Kerry are two faces of the same coin," said Abu Obeida, nom de guerre of a leader of Fallujah's al-Noor Jihadi regiment. "What is taken by force will be returned only by force, and we don't care what the results of the elections are."

Kerry could not stand up to the forces of Howard Dean; Kerry can not take a consistent stand on any important issue that faces our nation. He certainly will not be able to stand up to the force of an islamic extremist jihadist.

Iraqis Pro-Bush
Nazar Judi, a 41-year-old money trader who had his right hand cut off by Saddam Hussein's security forces nine years ago, is squarely in the Bush camp.
"I prefer Bush over the other guy because he knows Iraq well," said Mr. Judi, who received a new prosthetic hand from the U.S. Army and was flown to Washington to meet Mr. Bush in person. "I hope he wins his election because he wants to modernize Iraq."

The people of Iraq who understand the brutality of the former regime understand the necessity to continue to have America’s support. They understand what leader will continue to provide them with that support and who is truly working to be a force for good in this world. John Kerry is wrong for the War on Terror and the people of Iraq know it first hand!

Pray and Fast

Today is exactly one week before the election, and my wife and I have chosen to make this a day of prayer and fasting. We would urge anyone that can, to join us during this time or set aside a day before the election to do so. This is not for us to place our futures in any particular candidate, but our hope that the Lord will honor us and place a godly man in the Oval Office. Our hope is that our nation will be reminded of their need for godly men in positions of power and they will turn their hopes for a brighter future toward the Lord.

We know that God is fully in control of this election and there is no authority over His. This is something that we trust in completely and no matter who wins the election, we will take comfort in the knowledge of God’s purposes over ours. (Romans 13:1)

What does a godly man look like? He is set apart from other men (Psalm 4:3) and has a zeal for the Lord (Psalm 32: 6). A godly man is humble and reverent, so that he may serve and honor God with his whole self. He has the knowledge of God and holiness in his life. He has reverence for God and a life of holiness in the world. (Baker's Evangelical Dictionary of Biblical Theology)

Hugh Hewitt says the, “the key to influencing the world in the right way is the gospel.” This is foundational to choosing the President of the United States of America because as the lone super power in the world, who has more influence than we do? Obviously the answer to that question is God and the gospel message recognizes this universal truth. This is why we feel so strongly about a man of faith, a man of God being our President. We want to see the influence our country has in the world, given to us by God, used in a manner that will bring the gospel message of hope, redemption and love to all.

So forget about your particular political candidate and offer up your life to a loving father, a sacrificial brother and an overwhelming living spirit. That is more important than any ballot that will be cast next week.

Real Clear Possibilities

What is the pulse of the nation? Does anyone really seem to have a clue? This election seems to be shapping up to be as close as 2000 (electoral votes 271 – 266). Or is it? There is a distinct possibility that we will we be revisting 1984 (electoral votes 525 – 13).

How could this be possible? Ask Dick Morris, Zell Miller, Ron Silver & Ed Koch. All democrats, all voting to re-elect President Bush. They have been able to resist the urge to fall in line with the media’s natural tendencies towards liberalism.

Newsweek Big: Media Bias Worth 15 Points for Kerry-Edwards

"Let’s talk a little media bias here," Newsweek's assistant managing editor Evan Thomas told PBS's "Inside Washington" last week, reports Sunday's New York Post.
"The media, I think, want Kerry to win. And I think they’re going to portray Kerry and Edwards - I’m talking about the establishment media, not Fox, but - they’re going to portray Kerry and Edwards as being young and dynamic and optimistic and all, there’s going to be this glow about them that some, is going to be worth, collectively, the two of them, that’s going to be worth maybe 15 points.”

Newsweek's Thomas Reaffirms Media "Absolutely" Want Kerry to Win

Newsweek's Evan Thomas, who in July acknowledged that the media "want Kerry to win" and "that's going to be worth maybe 15 points" for the Kerry-Edwards ticket, on Sunday reaffirmed his belief that most reporters "absolutely" want Kerry to win, but on CNN's Reliable Sources he argued that his 15 point estimation was a "stupid thing to say."

CNN RELIABLE SOURCES
Coverage of Third Presidential Debate; Should FCC Stop Sinclair From Broadcasting Anti-Kerry Film?
Transcript

EVAN THOMAS: I think the mainstream media doesn't trust its instincts anymore. I mean, I think they feel cut off from the rest of the country. And when I talk to reporters, I was surprised at how often I hear, you know, I don't really know. I mean, I have my own views, but I don't know how they're reading it out there.

HOWARD KURTZ: Well, it is a tight race. But do you believe that most reporters want John Kerry to win?

THOMAS: Yeah. Absolutely.

KURTZ: Do you think they're deliberately tilting their coverage to help John Kerry and John Edwards?

THOMAS: Not really.

KURTZ: Subconsciously tilting their coverage?

THOMAS: Maybe.

KURTZ: Maybe?

THOMAS: Maybe.

KURTZ: Including in "Newsweek?"

THOMAS: Yeah.

KURTZ: You've said on the program "Inside Washington" that because of the portrayal of Kerry and Edwards as young and dynamic and optimistic, that's worth maybe 15 points. That would suggest...

THOMAS: Stupid thing to say. It was completely wrong. But I do think that -- I do think that the mainstream press, I'm not talking about the blogs and Rush and all that, but the mainstream press favors Kerry. I don't think it's worth 15 points. That was just a stupid thing to say.

KURTZ: Is it worth 5 points?

THOMAS: Maybe, maybe.

KURTZ: Is he admitting what journalists believe privately?

What is the effect that this could/should have on the polls? Is a more accurate depiction of the pulse of the nation to remove the bias not only in their reporting, but in their polls and in the hearts of most of America? We can't assume this helps President Bush, but it sure hurts Senator Kerry!

Closed Minds need not apply

Do you consider yourself an open minded chap? Do you believe that truth, like beauty is in the eye of the beholder? Did you see Michael Moore’s acclaimed documentary and think to yourself, “what a powerful and passionate expression of outraged patriotism”?

Then boy have I got two films for you!

In theatres now!

"After seeing the impact of "Fahrenheit 9/11," we decided that there must be a response to correct the record," said David Bossie, president of Citizens United and Executive Producer of "Celsius 41.11.” "When lies are repeated often enough, they become the truth. That is what we are fighting today, groups like MoveOn.org, The Media Fund, and other left wing organizations spending over one hundred million dollars spreading lies in order to discredit President Bush."

"Michael Moore, MoveOn.org., and their ilk have built up so much heat, through hatred, anger and rage, that they're not thinking rationally, which led us to the movie's title, 'Celsius 41.11: The Temperature at which the Brain Begins to Die," added Bossie.

At home on DVD!
FarhenHYPE 9/11

Unraveling the Truth about Fahrenheit 9/11 & Michael Moore

Across America people are asking if Fahrenheit 9/11 is a healthy dose of dissent, or shameful cowardice, if it's truth or hype? Heading a search party for the truth is Dick Morris, the man Time has called "the most influential private citizen in America." His insider insight into the real motivation for making Fahrenheit 9/11 is election year dynamite.

Don’t make the mistake of being intellectually dishonest! Go out and see these movies today!

(This message has been brought to you as a parody for liberal thinkers. If you are in search of some truth and reality check these films out. Moore is less.)

Believe the HYPE not the heit

September 11th, 2001 focused our nation on an issue they were ill-equipped to deal with. We were struck by the notion that we really were not invincible and that we could be hurt very deeply. This grief has stricken our hearts and drawn attention to a much deeper issue than terrorism.

We don’t know what truth is and we question any source which tries to provide us with it. We have no idea where to turn for actual truth, so we hide behind what we think makes us feel better. There is this notion in America that we can tear down and disprove any verifiable fact with a refutable verifiable fact. But are either of those facts really demonstrable by any consistent means of logic?

It is no wonder there is a fundamental misunderstanding in our country of what real news is, what propaganda is and what absolute truth is. The unfortunate reality is that for some there is no such thing as absolute truth, unless it’s their side of the story. Then it’s irrefutable evidence.

This notion is what divides the country. Not red or blue, not Bush or Kerry, not Republican or Democrat, but the idea that truth is merely a stepping stone to reality and is not the foundational cornerstone of reality. How else can two people call each other liars on the same issue and both be right?

I have a deep seeded love for this country and want to see it prosper and bring about a positive influence to the world. There are people that wish to tear down the fabric of our society, the fabric of truth. They live in and outside of this country; they are US citizens and foreigners. Do we want to be unsuspecting pawns in their game of deceit?

We must seek truth, but we will never find it without an understanding and a belief in absolute truth. There are such things as right or wrong, good or evil and we have choices to make between the two everyday.

My love for this country does not surpass my love and devotion to my God. I surrender my life to His will each and everyday. This country has been so richly blessed by God and this is where some draw the line of agreement. They do not submit their lives to a higher power and thus consciously or not condemn those that do. This is only part of the misunderstanding of absolute truth. There are those that walk in the faith, that walk in the light of Jesus Christ and still they misunderstand history.

We have an opportunity to send a message to the world on November 2nd of unity and of understanding and of unwavering faith in the face of evil, in the face of terrorism. Dick Morris said in FarenHYPE 9/11, “Don’t lose faith in the United States of America….We are not an imperialist country….don’t lose faith in yourself…..if you lose faith in yourself, in your own country in the United States, you’ve undermined the only really consistent force for good in the world.

I believe that we are a force for good because the Lord has seen fit to raise leaders in this country that would fulfill his purposes and plans for this world. It is no mistake that we have had great leaders in times of need and I pray we will continue to be blessed in that way. It is no mistake that President Bush was in office on September 11th, 2001. We have a sovereign God, who has devoted his entire existence to loving his creation. This is a message of hope and a message of liberty to be seen and felt around the world. And this is the “century of liberty”!

Go hug a Fireman today

bcfd.jpg

My wife and I saw Ladder 49 last week and this post should have come the very next day. Being a born and bred Baltimorean, any movie that is centered on Baltimore has a special place in my heart; John Waters being a notable exception. So I had a pretty good idea that I would enjoy this movie for the setting alone, but there was so much more there to envelop.

A friend remarked to me that his wife thought this movie was made too close to the 9/11 tragedy and exploited the memories of the firefighters that died that day. On the contrary to me, the memory of those brave men drew me in even closer to the characters of this movie, which was the most important aspect of this film.

Yes the special affects were great and the realism of fire was captured seamlessly with any set design of a burning factory or Baltimore based row home. I have heard that may real firefighters applaud this movie for it’s realism and draw a strong contrast to Backdraft. This movie was not about a mystery that needed to be wrapped up in under two hours, but the real life journeys of brave men that answer their call of duty and live their life of purpose.

Go see this movie and then go to your local fire department and thank them for their hard work and for keeping your life safe.
