I Love Puppies

The Steele Campaign, while still on average 5.6% points behind Representative Ben Cardin, is gaining momentum in its push to November and a Republican Senate seat victory. With the endorsement by the son of Kweisi Mfume, former NAACP president, this is a major step for any Republican candidate.

Lt. Governor Steele’s major push towards his election has to be coming from the dog loving community. His latest TV ad clearly shows his love for puppies and what red (or blue) blooded American wouldn’t vote for a man who loves puppies?!

Now his opponent has Hillary Clinton campaigning for him, but perhaps he hasn’t spoken to Alan Lichtman (failed Democratic Senate candidate). While Lichtman did not have direct permission of Senator Clinton to post his billboard the caption, “2 Winners Lichtman 2006 – Clinton 2008”, doesn’t instill much confidence in victory.

Steele’s campaign sent out an email recently with these statements, “As you know, I am committed to changing the business-as-usual attitude in Washington, D.C...Hillary Clinton presents a stark contrast to the change-oriented vision of my campaign.” The change I hope he is advocating for is against the stalemates that exist that slow the process of change down. Either way I’ll take puppies & Steele over Clinton & Cardin any day.

I love the commercial funded by the Democratic Party.

"Michael Steele voted for the veto of embryonic stem cell research by George Bush."
"Michael Steele voted against a womans right to choose." (funny that they left out the words "to murder their unborn child.")
"Michael Steele likes puppes, but he loves George Bush."

Obviously their goal was to hurt Steele's support, but they just made me like him even more.

It's interesting that Steele's campaign is focusing on changing the business-as-usual in Washington. I wonder how long Republicans will be in power before other Republicans can't run on that platform. I mean, the Senate, the House, and the Presidency have all been in the hands of the Republicans for six years now - and they've managed to run up a debt that my grandkids will be paying off, as well as get us involved in a war that the majority of Americans disagree with - yet Republican candidates are still able to campaign against "business-as-usual"?

He's really caught between a rock and a hard place, as he's on Bush's side, but he's campaigning against (his?) business as usual. Strange.

I have not seen that commercial, but it is certainly interesting in light Epiph’s comments. By the way, makes me like him more too!

You make a very good point with the “business-as-usual” stuff and that is actually something I wondered about when I first saw/heard that, but as I thought about it more and saw what Steele was standing for I came to a slightly different conclusion. Of course I could be mistaken, but I read his desire to see a change in the gridlock that has kept Congress from moving forward on important pieces of legislation being the change in “business-as-usual” he is seeking.

I’m curious if you think you’ll have grandkids by 2009? Because the debt is on pace to be cut in half before then because of the Presidents leadership on economic issues, which have also seen us through a recession and into record highs in the market. As for the war on terror that has liberated 50 million people in the Middle East, prevented a domestic terror attack for the last 5 years and keeps us on the offense, while also spreading democracy and liberty throughout the world. Whether the majority of Americans agree or disagree that is a good thing makes little difference when it is the right thing. That’s why we elect leaders and not followers.

I had no idea that Pearl Jam is your favourite band... I LOVE THAT SONG :) .... and I think I can understand why Amy wouldn't want that song played, hahaha. Have a good day!
