Today is a sad day in American History, if you can
call this America any longer.
I thought America stood for equal rights for everyone.
I thought America stood for progress in all aspects of
our society and world.
I thought America stood for freedom of speech without
being afraid of the ramifications held now under the
Patriot Act.
I thought America stood for keeping the streets safe
and the air and water clean for our children.
I thought America stood for setting example to other
countries.
I thought America stood for helping the working man
and his family.
I thought America stood for separation of church and
state.

Yesterday, I had great faith that the American people
would vote for Kerry and save our country, but the my
faith in the American people has begun to
disintegrate.
I thought, especially after the bin Laden tape, how
could people vote for a President who let this man
go...a man that slaughtered over 3,000 Americans? How
could America want to vote for someone who didn't take
the time to read a report confirming that bin Laden
was determined to strike with in the U.S.? How could
America vote for someone that is against vital medical
research that could save thousands of lives? How could
America vote for someone who wants to violate our
civil rights based on what we are saying or what books
we are reading? How could America vote for a man who
is a self-proclaimed "C-student" yet was accepted to
Yale AND Harvard while someone that deserved the spot
had to go somewhere else? How could America vote for a
man that blatantly avoided a draft yet has sent young
men and women to die for an unjust war?

Yet, the American people still voted for him. Perhaps
they were uninformed or MISinformed. I hope so.
Because the other option is that they knew all of this
and they still thought this man should have the honor
to be President...and that thought is too scary to
embrace.

When those people that voted for Bush cast their
ballot yesterday they also did the following...

They gave the middle finger to our troops in Iraq that
are now suffering due to a poorly planned war by the
Bush Administration.

They gave the middle finger to Christopher Reeves who
fought so valiantly until his death to make himself
strong enough so that when stem cell research funding
came through and the research could be done he would
be able to walk again. They also gave the middle
finger to Michael J. Fox and everyone else with
Parkinson's, Ronald Reagan and everyone with
Alzheimer's, those in need of a bone marrow transplant
due to chemotherapy...and the list goes on.

They gave the middle finger to Matthew Shepard and all
other victims of hate crimes (And by the way George
it's not a choice).

They gave the middle finger to battered women and
children whose safe houses will now be in danger of
closing due to funds cut by Bush.

They gave the middle finger to the Mother Earth who by
all standards Bush has been considered the worst
environmental president to date.

They gave the middle finger to the working man and
woman who are still busting their ass for min. wage
(the ironic twist of this one is that there were
people actually giving themselves the finger).

They gave the middle finger to all the countries of
the U.N. who could have possiblly helped us with Iraq.

They gave the middle finger to the inner city kids who
will not receive adequate funding for their schools
due to accountability standards.

They gave the middle finger to Lila Lipscomb's son who
in his last letter from Iraq begged for us to get Bush
out of office.

They gave the middle finger to young adults ages 18-26
that may be part of a draft if the quagmire in Iraq is
not resolved.

They gave the middle finger to our founding fathers
who wrote in the Constitution and the Declaration of
Independence and stated that all men are created equal
and that the law of this land should follow the
philosophy of separation of church and state.

I feel like our country is moving backwards when it
comes to equal rights for everyone, protection of
civil liberties, and the right of a women to choose.

I do not think that people truly understand how long
and treacherous the next four years will be.

Unfortunately, the people of American have spoken and
now we can only look ahead and we must all make an
effort to try to move this country in a positive way.
Negativity will only sink us deeper in the hole. I
think Bush supporters will learn some valuable lessons
in the upcoming four years.

I know this is a sad day for many of us, but we must
move on. We knew in the back of our minds that it was
definite possibility that GWB would be re-elected.
Please pray for our troops and hope that the proper
funding will not slip through the loopholes and will
be allocated to the troops so they will have proper
protective gear to keep them safe(r).
Yes, the
election is over, but that doesn't mean you should
stop speaking your mind!

Freedom of speech is a great thing. There is however, no freedom from the consequences of our actions. Kristina’s opinion is based on what she believes are deep truths, but that doesn’t make them true. She is obviously more afraid of President Bush and the people that made informed votes for him than she is of the Lord. In addition to praying for the troops, please pray that Kristina will find some comfort, some peace for her heart and place her trusts completely in God’s graceful hands. And may God continue to bless the United States of America.

I'm guessing this is supposed to be pictures of fallen soldiers. Rather than defaming their memory and attempting to vilify their Commander in Chief, spend some time thinking about their families and the freedom they died to defend.

The military by a margin of almost 3 to 1 favors President Bush. If you want to try to speak for them, at least have an idea of who they are and what they fight for.

I wish you didn’t feel so alienated in this country, but you should at least take some responsibility for your own belief system.

It is obvious that you have no valid arguments to make. You believe that if someone speaks their mind against the president they don't believe in God. That is simply false. Where did you get your statistic that 3 to 1 people in the military favor the president? Does this include the ground troops? Or those that are still technically in the military but haven't fought a war since before 1950? I know of over 1,000 American soldiers that don't favor Bush (because they can't because they're no longer with us). I don't think that Bush has a 3 to 1 backing by the ground troops considering there is not enough ground troops and they do not have the proper personal gear or properly amored vehicles. They have to pray everyday when they drive around Iraq that they won't go over a land mine because the bottom of the Humvees are not protected.
I do not feel alienated. I have over 55 million other Americans to stand beside me in my beliefs.

“It is obvious that you have no valid arguments to make.”
Fruitless attempt at provoking anger

“You believe that if someone speaks their mind against the president they don't believe in God.”
Illogical conclusion from anything I have said

“Where did you get your statistic that 3 to 1 people in the military favor the president? Does this include the ground troops?”
From the article I posted in my last comment and it is ACTIVE military, so yes ground troops are included in that statistic.

“I know of over 1,000 American soldiers that don't favor Bush (because they can't because they're no longer with us).”
Okay, so they are currently not supporting our President, but that does not automatically assume they never did and still wouldn’t. Nor does it mean they would ever share your opinion that they died for nothing. You do more to harm their memory by trying to paste your opinion over theirs.

“I don't think that Bush has a 3 to 1 backing by the ground troops”
Because you ignore the facts

“I do not feel alienated. I have over 55 million other Americans to stand beside me in my beliefs.”
Okay fair enough, but you are alienated from having political power because the other nearly 60 million Americans stood up and said who they wanted as their leader. They also stood up and said who they wanted in office to support their leader in both the House and the Senate. So don’t feel alienated, but you are surrounded and outnumbered.

Keep believing what you do, keep watching CBS for “objective” news, keep supporting politicians that are out of touch with MOST of America and watch in 2006 as the margins grow even wider for Republicans in Congress, and the DNC nominee in 2008 gives America the opportunity to give the RNC nominee the most votes in history, again.
