The traditional gift for a 75th anniversary is diamonds, and when Major League Baseball holds the 75th All-Star Game on July 13, the Minute Maid Park diamond will sparkle with the game's brightest stars.
This is one thing I never understood. We're exactly one month into the baseball season and we're already casting all-star ballots. Doesn't it make more sense to wait till a bit later into the season? It seems like we just started!
Posted by: aishel at May 6, 2004 06:15 PMHairston has not played one day on baseball this year but why is he on the ballot? Am I the only one or is Roberts a top 5 second baseman?
Posted by: Miki at May 6, 2004 10:46 PMAishel - I guess they start the voting so early to drum up interest in the game and to give people the chance to vote. The game really is only 60 days away?! But a good point.
Miki- I was surprised to see Hairston on the ballot myself and have personally been writing-in Brian Roberts for 2B. He really got a charge out of Hairston starting his rehab assignment. Here's to the competitive motivator!
